Who We are
MWC'S sTORY

FROM NOW….  TO THEN

The URL for Miamisburg Wesleyan Church’s website says a lot about our congregation:    Hope Offered Here.  One statement describes us best: “We’re a safe place to learn about God.”   We offer everyone a warm welcome and a place of caring and acceptance.

Originally there were two Wesleyan Churches in Miamisburg - one on each side of the river, and we were the East Wesleyan Church.  Our church started when a few people gathered in a garage on Sycamore Street in 1928. Eventually the two churches merged into one, becoming Miamisburg Wesleyan Church.
Our current building has an interesting place in the history of Miamisburg because the first pastor was Rev. Lillie McGuire, mother of the world-famous singing group, the McGuire Sisters. The Hit Parade Hall of Fame group contributed funds to help build the church and sang at Christmas Eve services, which are still remembered by many community residents. McGuire Street is located just a few blocks east of our church.

Many pastors have served the church over the years, but Rev. Jan Toft was appointed in 2005 when the church was on the brink of closing. We rebuilt to Established Church status in 2010 and are still moving forward!  In 2019, Nathaniel Harrison and his wife Tracy became the new pastoral team.

Just as our building played a role in Miamisburg’s history, as we serve our community we are building a new history for MWC.  It is a history of linking arms with other churches as we serve our community together.
We can push beyond the boundaries of what small churches think they can do as we reach out together, because when the Body of Christ works together, everybody wins!

Our partnerships include Blessings in a BagBOGG Ministries, and Reentry Connect. This is a national movement that is changing lives of Returning Citizens and their families by building relationships and support networks in the community.  Reentry Connect meets on Monday nights at 6:30 pm and we welcome all Returning Citizens to our services.

At MWC we believe “your past doesn’t have to determine your future because transformation is possible!”  This belief empowers our Celebrate Recovery Ministry. This program is designed for everyone – it can bring victory over hurts, habits and hang-ups through the life-changing power of Jesus Christ.  CR is on Fridays at 6:30 p.m.
